We design custom Zipper Duct for your machinery.
DCS zipper duct is a perfect solution when dust or fumes must be removed from a process involving a piece of machinery that is moving. The fitting inside of the zipper duct will move with the machinery and is attached with flex hose. Zipper ducts are often used when the machine’s travel distance or the abrasiveness of the material exceeds the recommended use of flex or jointed pipe. The CFM can range widely from as low as 400 to 4,000 depending upon the material being processed.
Machinery that our zipper duct can be used with are the following:
- CNC Routing Tables
- Lathes that generate chips and dust
- Saws
- Grinders
- Plasma Tables / Cutters
- Any machinery that moves along a linear course as dust, fume, or mist is produced.
Fabrication
DCS Zipper duct can be fabricated in any length to fit the needs of your machinery. The primary limiting factor to the length of the duct is the size of the fan. The required length is made by bolting individual sections together and capping off the final end, and attaching an extraction duct to the other. These sections are essentially a round duct with an open bottom, across which is a heavy-duty rubber to seal the opening and to allow an attached duct fitting to move along a linear path. The fitting is then attached to the piece of equipment with flex hose. This allows the air to pull through the unit and through the flex hose and extract the material through the duct. Dust that is collected is pulled through the zipper duct and then on to the main collector.
